Unpacking....

Well we got all moved in. Sort of. Our IKEA furniture has been severely delayed and we might not get it for another week. So we don't have a kitchen/breakfast table or family room furniture. Or Courtney's desk.. or computer chairs. Or stuff for the loft.. lol.

We have time to grow into the house. We love the house / neighborhood. We still have a few boxes to go.. and 0 decorations put up! Ah! Gotta mow the lawn at some point too. We got lots to do still. Eventually I want to do some yard work and make the yard look nicer. I don't want to be "those people" that don't care for their yard.

Makayla is getting big. And smart. She is deliberately moving her hands and playing with toys.. chewing on stuff. She used to do stuff on accident but now she has purpose in her actions! And she's starting to talk. I'm excited now but when she learns the word "no" I'll miss her quiet days.

Some pictures of her from February...

Quick Update

Just a quick update. We're moving to Winter Garden in 1 week! Getting a 4,500 sqft 3 story house with 5 bedrooms, a den and a loft and an office. 2 kitchens...

just kidding. 4 bed 3 bath 2 story house! We're excited but have a lot of freakin' stuff to do before we go! Been packing. I always forget how much computer crap and cables I can't get rid of (I need every now and then).

Anyways for V-Day I made this video:

Quick Post.

Honestly, I should be in bed by now. Just couldn't wait to post my new video online.

I must say, being a father is GREAT so far. I love that child more than anything and I will sacrifice anything for her (and Courtney).

She is beginning to "talk" and notice more things now. She watches movement and plays with bright objects. Follows moving objects and can sometimes even grab at the things she's interested in. She copies us from time to time, usually sticking her tongue out or something. She chills out in her swing just looking around most of the day. Loves her bottles still and isn't as attached to her paci as some babies. She can hold her head up really well and is in the beginning stages of self realization (I believe).

We are going to teach her baby sign language, or at least try to next month.

So happy new year. 2007 is over. Now we concentrate on 2008 and getting a house! I'll leave you with this awesome video.

Wrapping up 2007

So we were thinking about the year. 2007 is a year I'll never forget. We moved out in March... found out we were pregnant 2 weeks later... got married and had a baby. Holy crap. Coincidently I turn 21 tomorrow. Yay!

So the first month has been pretty good with Makayla. She sleeps through most of the night. Eats around 11.. then again at about 4 and doesn't get up again till about 7 or 8. I get most my sleep.. not too tired during the days. A little out of it but not bad.  She got a little bit of a head cold this week but she's getting better.

Going places is a lot harder than it used to be. Can't just get up and go. Have to take turns getting ready then have to get the baby ready. 30-45 minutes! Crazy. Things are just a bit more complicated now and we're steadily getting medical bills... which is "fun".
A lot has happened this year and I can't imagine what this next year is going to bring.  All I know now is I look forward to my birthday tomorrow and Christmas.

We're going to try going to dinner with Makayla tomorrow night. Hopefully she is good like usual. Going to in-laws on Christmas Eve and my parents on the big day. We've got some driving to do :p

I'll leave you with some Christmas pictures to set the spirit!

First Night Home

Another photo of Makayla. Well, we made it home successfully today. Left the hospital around 1. Courtney's mom stopped by for a few minutes around 5 and held her a bit, hoping she'd wake up. She slept all day! Guess what though.. this means she likes being up tonight. Usually she was up during the day because people liked to visit her. We just fed her another bottle though and she seems content for the moment. I have a feeling it's going to be a long night. I'm going to go to bed soon but I expect to be getting up at 4am for a changing and a feeding. Courtney passed out on the coach as she should have a few hours ago. She's opening her eyes a lot more too. She liked to stare at our christmas tree. Very cute, very fun and very a pain in the butt sometimes but I wouldn't have her any other way! She's still a good baby!

FINALLY!

Makayla Nicole Malta

November 27, 2007 at 8:58
6 pounds, 12 ounces
20 inches long

We went to Winnie Palmer on Tuesday morning at 4 am to get induced. We got induced around 6 am and stopped around 8pm... 14 hours of labor and our stubborn child didn't progress. There was a nurse that didn't help at all for 12 hours but I'm not going to get into that. Fact of the matter is we got a C-Section between 8-9 after a new RN came because Makayla was under stress. She was born just before 9 and Courtney had to be separated from her for a couple of hours while she recovered. I went back and forth and took pictures and videos of our baby to show Courtney while she recovered. We finally went upstairs and even though they said our baby will be there before us she still wasn't. We didn't get her until 2 am. We stayed with her for about an hour or so and then sent her to the nursery because we were dead tired.

Had a lot of visitors today... kind of over did it with visitors actually. Was a long stressful day. Courtney is walking a little bit now and we can't believe the baby is here!

It's crazy! All in all we had a good birth. Courtney is in pain still but that's natural with c-sections and I'm helping with everything I can and I'm feeding Makayla and changing diapers. I will now leave you with some pictures from the past few days.

Showing off her full head of hair

She's not very happy about this.

Delivery Room

We got to the hospital at 4 this morning. We got a bed around 5 or 5:30. Got situated around 6 and now we're just waiting. I hear Makayla's heartbeat and I can watch Courtney's contractions come and go. Last night I only got about an hour of sleep. From like 1 to 2 or so.

This is the point of no return and it's really, really scary. I'm going to have my baby tonight. Scary as hell, right? Me, father? lol.

Okay. I don't want to spend too much time on the computer because I want to spend it with Courtney.. just have some "quiet time" right now. I can't believe this is happening!
